Broadstairs Dickens Festival 2026

The town's long-running Victorian festival marked its 89th year in 2026, with costumed events across the town centre and seafront.

Took place 12-14 June 2026 · Broadstairs, Kent

Charles Dickens holidayed in Broadstairs for over twenty years and set part of David Copperfield here, and the town has run a festival in his honour since the 1930s. 2026 marked the 89th year, three days of Victorian costume through the streets, a grand parade, Mr Dickens Presents and the festival play at the Sarah Thorne Theatre, a beach party and a Victorian summer fair.

Alongside Folk Week in August, this is one of Broadstairs' two headline weekends every year, and it has run every June for close to nine decades. The 2027 festival, marking the 90th year, is already confirmed for 11-13 June 2027, so this is a safe date to plan around well in advance.
